Great participation and interest characterised the seventh edition of the Bioeconomy Day, the annual event promoted by Cluster SPRING e Assobiotec-Federchimica to discuss bioeconomy, ecological transition and sustainable innovation. This year, the initiative was led by Basilicata, thanks to the significant contribution of Lucanian Cluster of Bioeconomy, which gave voice to cutting-edge local experiences, projects and strategies.
During the intense morning of work – between thematic sessions, round tables and company testimonials – the centrality of the bioeconomy as a lever for a greener future, capable of combining environmental protection, innovation and development economic.
The opening of the works was entrusted to Domenico Lazazzera, President of the Lucanian Cluster, who underlined the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to promote aeconomy circular based on biological resources. Following, Gerardo Travaglio, regional manager, emphasized the commitment of the Basilicata Region to the enhancement of local supply chains and support for the green transition.
L’Assessora Laura Mongiello illustrated the regional strategies in the field of bioeconomy, aiming at reducing the emissions, sustainable management of resources and support for green businesses. Among the most promising projects, those presented by Salvatore Dimatteo (ENEA Trisaia) for the valorization of local biomasses and the development of innovative solutions in the energy sector.
Also of great importance was the intervention of Peppe Paternò (ITS Basilicata), che ha evidenziato l’evoluzione delle competenze richieste dal settore dei biofuel e la necessità di percorsi formativi adeguati. Girolamo Mazziotta (GreenSwitch) brought a concrete example of economy circular, illustrating a project to transform waste into energy resources.
At the heart of the Councillor's speech Cosimo Latronico, the role of the PNRR in the, the role of the PNRR in the development of biotechnology for health and well-being, in a virtuous synergy between healthcare, research, and sustainability. In this context, researchers Giuseppe Pennella e Graziella Marino of the CROB of Rionero have illustrated the potential of the bioeconomy in cancer research and personalized medicine.
Finally, the testimonies of virtuous companies such as that of Vincenzo Masturzo (Oleifici Masturzo), which showed how innovation and tradition can coexist, and Gianmario Massocchi (Arpor Cooperative – Orogel Group), which reiterated the role of agricultural cooperation in development sustainable territory.
In closing, Lazazzera reiterated the need to "network" between institutions, research, businesses and citizens to transform Basilicata into a real
